This is why Chrissy Teigen didn’t take husband John Legend’s last name

When model Chrissy Teigen married singer John Legend in 2013, she chose to keep her own last name.

To most, this is no big deal; it’s the noughties, many women choose to keep their own names for various reasons.

But, since Chrissy is in the public eye and people like to be nosy with celebrities, someone still chose to ask the mum why she didn’t follow tradition. She unearthed a tweet from August last year which read, “I’d really like to hear the reasoning behind women who won’t take their husband’s last name.”

In typically witty Chrissy fashion, she replied “my husband didn’t even take his last name.”

I mean, true.

John was born John Roger Stephens, but chose Legend as his stage name. Which begs the question, what is their daughter, Luna’s surname?

The couple are also expecting a baby boy soon, but thankfully with parents as famous as Chrissy and John, they probably won’t ever need to refer to their surnames.

Just like the British royal family.
