On Boxing Day morning Georgina Marshall, 20, went to her infant son Isaac’s cot to give him a morning feed, only to discover he wasn’t breathing.

The Nottinghamshire mum immediately began giving her son chest compressions and called for help, but it was too late.

Little Isaac had passed away in his sleep at only four months old.

“I was screaming and panicking,” Marshall told Nottinghamshire Live, descibing the moment she discovered her son unresponsive.

Isaac’s father Aidan Brown, 20, was at work when his own father and grandfather delivered the heartbreaking news that Isaac had died.

“There was no sign that he was really ill,” he said, “It just happened out of the blue.”

He too is struggling with the sudden loss of his baby boy, saying “I have really dark moments where I just break down. I’m trying to keep positive.”

Isaac was born premature but had “gained full strength and health” in the four months since his birth, his mother doting on her “smiling and happy baby”.

“He brought joy to everyone’s life.”

But now as she has to say goodbye to her boy, Marshall has set up a fundraiser with a special request.

She wants to give little Isaac 'an angel’s send off'.

“I don’t believe children should travel in a black hearse for the funeral,” she explained, “I want him to go in a white car and for the funeral to remember him and his life.”

A fundraiser has been set up to help pay for the car, as well as funeral costs Marshall would be unable to afford on her benefits.

In just four days it has already raised almost £2,500 (AUD $4,500) towards the expenses, with more donations coming in every day.

Now Marshall wants others to know just how precious life is, especially when it comes to your children.

“I want to raise awareness of how sudden it can be,” she said.

“Make sure you enjoy the time you have got with your son or daughter.”

A post-mortem examination is being carried out to figure out the cause of Isaac’s sudden death.
