Mum designs alphabet cards with Aussie legends

An Aussie mum has made learning the alphabet cool by ditching the traditional A is for Apple.

Sydney-based Art Director Beck Feiner, has designed a unique set of brightly-hued alphabet cards featuring famous Australians instead of inanimate objects.

When Feiner started to teach her son his letters, she searched for a cool alphabet poster to educate four-year-old Levi, but couldn't find anything.

"I just felt like A is for apple, and B is for banana was a bit boring,” she says.

So, the graphic designer and illustrator set about creating a much more inspiring alphabet series for Levi.

In her new Aussie Legend Alphabet series, A is for Indigenous AFL footballer Adam Goodes, O is for singer and actress Olivia Newton-John and F is for eye surgeon, Dr Fred Hollows.

Feiner sells the posters on her website, and while originally intended for children, they are proving popular with all ages.

Several schools have also ordered the Aussie Legends Alphabet, and now Feiner hopes to transform the cards and posters into a book.
