'Evil face' spotted in wall print: 'It's been haunting me through lockdown'

With Aussies spending more time than ever cooped up inside, the urge to do some home decor 'sprucing' is only natural.

So, when Sydney journalist Belinda Grant-Geary spotted a monochrome cloud print at Kmart for just $19, she couldn't resist.

"I added it to my already large pile of unnecessary purchases and proudly hung it in my lounge room," she says.

Belinda's 'new purchase' buzz didn't last long, thanks to a friend's observation that one of the clouds looked a bit... menacing.

"The first person to see it pointed out the evil little Voldemort face in the middle, and since then I have not been able to unsee it," she says.

Even at a time where we're all more socially isolated than ever, Belinda has absolutely not enjoyed the extra company at home: "I've been haunted by this face through lockdown."

The presence of the demon (uh, face) was confirmed when relaxed gathering restrictions in New South Wales allowed visits to other households.

"A couple of friends came over and they were also drawn to the face — unprompted, I might add," Belinda continues.

In a bid to disguise the unwelcome guest, the household took a vote, deciding to rotate the cloud print to landscape.

As you can see here, it didn't exactly work:

"Unfortunately, this did not exorcise the little demon from my house. Every time I walk past I see him and I hate him for ruining my bargain buy," Belinda says.

"I sit at night and wonder if there are others out there haunted by this same creepy face, or if my friend had never pointed it out I would be living in blissful ignorance."
