Emma Watson's book suggestions are perfect for rainy weather
With rain expected across much of Australia's east coast, now's the perfect time to curl up with a good book. If you haven't got anything to read at the moment, don't worry – Emma Watson has you sorted.
The actress and outspoken feminist has started a book club called 'Our Shared Shelf', which is dedicated to sharing thought-provoking and empowering woman-focused literature.
"As part of my work with UN Women, I have started reading as many books and essays about equality as I can get my hands on," Watson wrote on group's page. "There is so much amazing stuff out there."
"I've been discovering so much that, at times, I’ve felt like my head was about to explode. I decided to start a Feminist book club, as I want to share what I’m learning and hear your thoughts too."
Every month, Watson suggests a book, and then sets aside the last week for discussion. For March, she's asking people to read Women Who Run With Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes.
The novel, which was a hit in the 90s, is about the "wild woman" archetype, and urges women to reconnect with their instinctual nature.
"Estes’ ideas are both ancient and completely new," Watson writes. "She points to storytelling, our ancient narratives, as a way for women to reconnect to the Wild Woman all women have within themselves, but have lost."
