Model with Down's syndrome named brand ambassador for Benefit Cosmetics

Kate Grant, a model from Northern Ireland who has Down's syndrome, has been named brand ambassador for Benefit Cosmetics.

The beauty pageant winner is currently promoting the brand's 'Roller liner' eyeliner product along with three other 'wing women'.

Grant, 20, nabbed the role when the company saw a Facebook video of her journey to become a model.  

"We fell instantly in love with her," a Benefit spokesperson told the Daily Mail. "Her amazing energy was so infectious and we were captivated by her incredible zest for life and determination. She embodied everything we stand for as a brand so we knew we had to find a way to work with her."

The 20-year-old's partnership with Benefit comes after a huge 2018 for the model – she walked the runway for British retailer Debenhams and won the Teen Ultimate Beauty of the World pageant.

Grant's mother Deirdre told Metro UK, "She is paving the way for people coming behind her.

"Kate is aware of that and wants to spread awareness about inclusion for people with disabilities and that is what she has done from the very start. She is aware that she is able to do that in a way some of her friends cannot. She is using her voice for them."

Mrs Grant also revealed that her daughter has plans to become a supermodel.

"She does not allow obstacles to be in the way or her disability to stand in the way. She would say Down’s syndrome does not define me – I am Kate."

Benefit cosmetics has over 2000 stories in over 30 countries around the world.
