A controversial tweet is nothing new for Donald Trump — but his latest Twitter fail has sent the internet into a frenzy.

Just after midnight in Washington today, the President of the United States tweeted: "Despite the constant negative press covfefe."

Yep, that's it.

The cryptic tweet has already been re-tweeted almost 70,000 times and liked by 86,000 users as people try to work out what the president really meant.

Many are suggesting Trump meant to write "coverage" but others are speculating the president was "drunk tweeting" or hit "send" before he had finished typing.
