'Please help, I nearly died': Domestic violence victim asked Facebook to track down attacker

A woman who suffered extreme trauma at the hands of a violent boyfriend posted graphic photos of her injuries online in search of her missing attacker. 

Jamie Webber has now been jailed for three years for causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and making a threat to kill Jenna Thomas. 

It was revealed in court that Thomas was strangled and kicked in the head by her former partner, who showed up drunk on her doorstep in the middle of the night. 

The incident occurred at the home the on-again-off-again couple had shared in Newport, Wales for two and a half months. Prosecutor David Pugh told Newport Crown Court that Webber was "possessive" and had "jealousy" issues, constantly accusing his girlfriend of being unfaithful. He added Thomas had chosen to end the relationship before the abuse occurred.

The court heard Webber, 27, approached Thomas, 22, around 1.45am on May 29 when she went out to move the bins. He reportedly asked her for a phone charger before following her into the house, despite her requests for him to leave. 

"He approached her from behind, putting his arms around her neck… he was squeezing so tightly she couldn't not breathe and lost consciousness," the prosecutor said. 

"After regaining consciousness, she managed to open the window and ask for help. As Webber was closing the window, she managed to get out of the house."

The prosecutor added: "She fell into the pavement and she was screaming hysterically. He chased her and kicked her head and body, shouting to her to shut up.

"He tried to pick her up and bring her back to the house, but she continued to scream for help and struggle. Both fell to the ground and he tried to cover her mouth.

"During the attack, she said he told her 'if I am going back to prison, it is for killing you' and she was frightened for her life."

Hearing her screams, a neighbour intervened, shouting at the attacker to stop. Webber then took off, and was missing for almost a week. 

The following day, Thomas posted photos of her severe injuries to Facebook, encouraging anyone with information on Webber's whereabouts to go to the police.
