Helen Grasswill, a producer from Australian Story at ABC TV took me under her wing and gave me some of the best presenting and producing advice I
've ever come across.

My old boss at Triple J, Alison Ray, dished out tough love and lots of laughs that certainly shaped my career.

'll forever be grateful to them and I feel now it's my turn to give back. You get a lot out of being a mentor. For me it’s a feeling of community and a sense of the bigger picture.

I’ve been a mentor for more than five years and I have ten young female journalists under my wing.

We meet every couple of months for what I’ve dubbed a “Walk ‘n Talk” mentoring session.

As a group, we discuss problems, celebrate successes and offer advice on everything from looking for the next gig, asking for more money or dealing with harassment at work.
