Crazy Rich Asians star Gemma Chan is not only gorgeous, she's also an absolute genius.

Last night she did what just about every woman who has ever attended a drawn-out event has dreamed of doing – she got herself a dress with pockets, and filled those things to the brim with snacks.

The glamorous actress figured that sitting in a huge theatre for hours on end with no food wasn't her idea of a good night, so she stocked up on cookies to snack on during the ceremony, even showing an empty packet to reporters after the show as proof.

"It's a long ceremony ... you don't get dinner," she explained to Entertainment Tonight.

Luckily her hot pink Valentino gown was designed with snacking in mind, its loose fit and roomy pockets allowing her to carry the food without it ruining her dress' silhouette.

Two pockets also means two snack sneaking spots, Chan opting to go sweet in one pocket and savoury in the other – where she kept a packet of rice crackers.

Talk about forward thinking.

She even shared her clever trick on Twitter, retweeting her cookie reveal with the caption "The hunger is real."

Of course, she's not the first star to try to work around the whole 'not getting fed at the Oscars' issue.

Last year Jimmy Kimmel sorted the problem out by providing a box of snacks for every Oscars attendee – along with a note asking the stars to please not throw the snacks at him.

He also helped out the year before, deploying mini parachutes that delivered movie snacks to the audience when he hosted in 2017.

But that was nothing compared to the year prior, when Chris Rock used his hosting stint to bring in his daughter's Girl Scout Troop to sell their famous cookies, raising over $90,000 for the group. How many other kids get to say they sold thin mints to Morgan Freeman?

In 2014 Ellen DeGeneres ordered pizza to the Oscars, handing out slices to hungry stars like Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts.

And earlier this year Melissa McCarthy, the absolute icon, snuck not one, not two, but 40 ham and cheese sandwiches to the Golden Globes.

Now that's true snack dedication.
