Another prominent wedding on the calendar has been postponed as a result of coronavirus.

James Middleton, brother to the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, has reportedly called off his wedding as the COVID-19 situation worsens worldwide.

Middleton, and his fiancee Alizee Thevent, a French financier, who were expected to have a summer wedding, explained it's no longer "practical" to celebrate in the midst of a global pandemic.

Planning to marry in Thevenet's country of origin, the pair explained "holding an AngloFrench wedding is impossible in the coming months," and would still likely "be difficult in the summer."

The pair who announced their engagement in October last year, in a sweet Instagram post, "She said OUI", will reportedly reschedule their wedding date as the situation quells.

Excitement was unparalleled for the 32-year-old Duchess of Cambridge's brother to wed his fiancee, with Middleton revealing his excitement for the big day, weeks after proposing to Vanity Fair Spain: "we are in the phase before we start planning everything, just enjoying the process."

A royal source explained, "they would prefer to wait until all their guests are able - and happy - to attend."

The pair who met in the summer of 2018, at a South Kensington private members' club, progressed quickly in their relationship.

From sharing five dogs, among them the Cocker Spaniel, Ella, that facilitated their first conversation, to attending Lady Gabriella Windsor's royal wedding and vacationing alongside James' sister Pippa and her husband James Matthews together, the pair shared a passionate year prior to their engagement.

The couple's postponement announcement follows the delay of Princess Beatrice's royal wedding, as a result of coronavirus.

Arguably one of the biggest events of the royal calendar, Princess Beatrice's wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi was set to occur in a royal ceremony on May 29 at St James' Palace.

The wedding has since been postponed as a result of coronavirus and will likely occur in 2021.

At present, the United Kingdom has 5,683 confirmed cases of coronavirus, while France has 16, 018. Both countries have a collective death toll over 900.
