Advent calendar's awkward Christmas message

An awkward message has been found in an advent calendar in a country in the middle of the coronavirus crisis.

Excited owners of a calendar by chocolate firm Cadburys opened one of the windows to find the message, probably printed long before the pandemic.

It read: 'Give Hugs at Christmas', something which is strictly off limits.

And while the window was on December 4, meaning they were actually cheating on their Christmas countdown, Twitter users joked about the unfortunate timing.

"Chris Whitty says don't" TV critic Scott Bryan said on twitter, referring to the country's virus rulemaker.

He added "It's literally in all this year (s) advent calendar poor them."

The UK's latest lockdown has just finished - but the country has now been split into 'tiers' of restrictions, depending on the infection levels of an area.

While people can meet outside, or in social 'bubbles', hugging is strictly banned.

The UK has just approved a vaccine, but the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has warned the fight is not over.
