But it's also a memorable milestone in Simpson and McKeon's love story, which has been two years in the making.

"A brief rendezvous in Barcelona with my love," he captioned the series of sweet snaps.
Shortly after Simpson shared the news, McKeon followed suit taking to her Instagram with a photo of her and her new beau holding hands at a museum in Paris.
"Monet's Water Lillies," she captioned the post.
A 'love triangle'
Around the time that Simpson and McKeon confirmed their relationship, rumours began swirling of a rift between the new couple and their Aussie teammate Kyle Chalmers, who had reportedly dated McKeon briefly in 2021. Chalmers and Simpson were also relay partners in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
However, all rumours of a 'love triangle' drama in the Dolphins team were blasted by Chalmers in a post-race press conference.
"It's all just false news that's actually crap," he said.
"It's a load of s--t that's not true. It's words getting put in mouths and you wanting to make a story out of nothing."

Simpson also addressed the speculation of a rift between the trio.
"We're all teammates. I'm not sure how he or she are dealing with that," he said.
"But in saying that, in the warm-up and out on deck we've all been teammates, regardless of whatever may have been."
Two year anniversary
Despite being famously private about their relationship, McKeon and Simpson appear to be going strong.
In April 2024, the pair celebrated their two-year anniversary with Simpson taking to his Instagram story with a sweet photo to mark the occasion.

When Ryan pointed out that McKeon's gold medal for the 4x100m freestyle relay allowed her to beat Ian Thorpe's record of winning the most gold medals for Australia, Simpson began gushing about her.
He said that it was "crazy", adding with a smile on his face, "She will be so humble about it. She will never say it herself. It's special what she's done."
He shared that the Olympian worked hard till the very last second to earn her medal.
"She's had a blistering swim this morning because she wanted to be in the final tonight and get on the podium. I'm proud of her getting that done," Simpson said.
