Home video shows child nearly crushed by toppling furniture

We all know that unsecured furniture such as bookshelves, can be dangerous for anyone – most of all, small children.

Yet too often, we hear cases of unsecured furniture falling onto young children.

In a video, which has now gone viral, an account of this horrific type of accident is captured for all to see.

The video shows a toddler opening the drawers of a tallboy, and you can’t help but tensely watch as all the weight holding the drawers steady gets transferred to the front.

But nothing happens, and he dutifully closes the drawers.

However, children are curious beings and he simply starts playing with the drawers again – this time starting with the very top drawer.

He continues opening the next drawer, and the next, and the next, until you just know something terrible is going to happen.

Then as the chest of drawers teeters forward, toward the child, it overbalances and comes crashing down to the floor – narrowly missing crushing the child beneath its heavy frame.

An adult can be seen walking down the stairs to investigate the loud noise.

Upon seeing the fallen chest of drawers, she quickly runs over to the child and comforts him.

These types of accidents happen more frequently than you’d think and can be easily avoided by taking the time to secure furniture.

The lesson? Don’t risk it and keep everyone safe.
