Charles and Camilla visit terror victims in London hospital

Prince Charles and Camilla praised the British NHS and emergency service s following Saturday night’s terror attack in London.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall visited the Royal London Hospital to see 12 people who had been injured in the attack. The couple expressed their admiration for workers and those who volunteered, saying they showed "Britain at its best".

"It's Britain at its best isn't it? Everybody pulls together, there doesn't seem to be any panic," Camilla told medical staff, according to the Daily Telegraph. "Everybody gets on and does their job."

The royal couple were shown around the hospital by Barts Health NHS Trust chief executive Alwen Williams and A&E clinical director Dr Malik Ramadhan.

Seven people were killed in the attack, in which three men drove into pedestrians on London Bridge before slitting throats and stabbing people in the bustling Borough Market area. 48 were injured, 15 of whom are in a critical condition. 32 are currently being cared for in London hospitals.

Among those who met the royals were Dr Chris Lambert and paramedic Tracy Porter, who were called to the north end of the bridge as reports of the attack emerged.

Camilla told them patients were in "the best possible hands".

Speaking afterwards, Dr Lambert said: "In a way we see those kind of injuries every day, but obviously not in such great numbers and in such a sort of intense, emotional scene with so much else going on."

Charles told staff at the adult critical care unit who thanked him for visiting: "It was the least I could do."

The Prince then added "I have so much admiration for all you are doing, it's a fantastic team."

The couple also met with members of the police service at the Central Communications Command.
