As told to 9Honey

In celebration of Mother's Day we got some of your favourite Channel Nine stars to tell us what they love about their mums.

What's the best advice your mother gave you?

The best advice my mum gave me was to embrace being an individual. She taught me to love myself unconditionally no matter what anybody else thought about me.

What will you give your mum this Mother’s Day?

My mum and I are so alike in the way that jewellery is the way to our heart! That means jewellery for my mum.

How do you celebrate Mother’s Day?

With my mum a hot cup of tea and a slice of cake with close family is normally the way to go.

So much good advice but mainly the reinforcement throughout my entire childhood that I could do whatever I wanted with my life if I worked hard and was a good person.

What will you give your mum this Mother’s Day?

She's in Perth but I sent her a whole bunch of delicious cakes and cookies.

How do you celebrate Mother’s Day?

Coffee and breakfast in bed (and maybe a sneaky glass of bubbles). We'll have a dance and a singalong and then just have a chilled day at home, probably watching movies and/or the footy.

What's the best advice your mother gave you?

Be yourself, be independent and rely on you to manage life's challenges. I grew up in a family with four boys, and she was very big on all of us being self-reliant and turning inwards to solve our own problems.

I’ll get her a voucher from DJ’s or Myers, and let her go and get something she absolutely loves.

How do you celebrate Mother’s Day?

I’ll give Mum a ring in the morning (she lives in Melbourne) and touch base with her and wish her a happy mother’s day. I’ll also help my kids to plan something special for Kelly (my wife).

Usually it will involve giving her a sleep in, opening presents, having a special brunch out at her favourite cafe, and then giving her a lazy afternoon to enjoy a very relaxed massage.

Ninja Warrior host Rebecca Maddern

Best advice your mum gave you?

“You’ll be fine.” She uses it for every situation big or small. She’s usually right!

A big kiss and some flowers.

How do you celebrate Mother’s Day?

Usually we have brunch. My two brothers live in Queensland so it’s hard to get everyone together. It’s my second year as a mum so the the day is even more special now.

What's the best advice your mother gave you?

Mum’s given me several pearls of wisdom through the years. That there is something to be said holding strength and composure through adversity. That we learn lessons every day in our lives, no matter how old we are, and we grow from those lessons.

Also, to see the positives in any situation. Enjoy the present moment.

What will you give your mum this Mother’s Day?

Mum isn't big on presents and flowers. She loves spending time with us and enjoying a good meal.

How do you celebrate Mother’s Day?

We usually head out for a feed. This year she's keen for a pub or a more relaxed vibe. We're a foodie family and it's so lovely that we enjoy spending time together and eating. There's nothing like a good meal and a glass of vino to bring you all together and mum loves that.

Lots of kisses in the morning and a cracking game of netball to commentate that day. I am calling the Lightning v Firebirds match so I suspect I am good chance of getting both!

How do you celebrate Mother’s Day?

We don’t really! It always falls in the middle of netball season so I am generally working.

When I was little we used to go for a picnic, so we might do that on the Friday afternoon beforehand.
