Heartwarming outpouring of love for Meryl Streep after her Golden Globes speech

Meryl Streep made a speech that silenced everyone at one of the most respected and world-renowned award's ceremonies in the world. Her powerful, politically charged dialogue at the Golden Globes never mentioned Donald Trump by name, but it was inherently obvious who she was talking about - and her denouncement of the President elect as a bully has quickly earned legendary status.

“There was one performance this year that stunned me — it sank its hooks in my heart,” Ms. Streep said. “Not because it was good; there was nothing good about it. But it was effective and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh, and show their teeth,” she said, referring to the US President elect’s mocking of a disabled reporter on the campaign trail.

"Disrespect invites disrespect," she added. "Violence incites violence. When the powerful use definition to bully others, we all lose."

And despite an angry response from Donald Trump - he tweeted "Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn't know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes." - and backlash from his fans, Meryl (who has three Academy Awards and a Presidential Medal of Freedom, among many other accolades) is mostly receiving a whole lot of respect from her fans and peers.

Celebrities have taken to social media in their droves to offer an outpouring of love and support for Meryl and her eloquent speech. Some have stuck to a simple "well done", while others have offered their thanks and celebrated the icon's "bravery". This tweet has quickly gone viral:
