Bride caught out stealing flowers for her wedding reception

An avid gardener was left heartbroken when she discovered her front garden "butchered" one morning, her rare roses and expensive blooms stolen in the night.

The unnamed Australian woman shared her shocking story in a wedding shaming Facebook group, revealing it was in fact a bride who had ransacked her beloved garden.

She explained she woke up on a Friday morning to find every single rose in her garden had been cut, including an extremely rare Amelia Earhart hybrid tea rose that had taken her years to track down and cultivate.

It didn't stop there – the unknown thief had also taken all of her potted impatiens and petunias, "pots and all."

The woman immediately filed a police report, but stolen roses are difficult to track down and the police admitted there wasn't much they could do for her.

"All I could do was prune [the roses] back and try to coax them into blooming again," the woman wrote.

It wasn't until a few weeks later that her neighbour tipped her off as to where the blooms may have disappeared to.

Someone the neighbour knew had gotten married the same weekend the flowers were nicked, and the photos from her wedding had just gone up on social media with the stolen plants front and centre.

"The tip off was the petunias and impatiens in my very distinctive, white painted flower pots being used as centrepieces," the gardener wrote.

She also spotted her hybrid tea roses in the bouquets held by the bride and her bridesmaids, an obvious sign the bride had stolen from her, given she's the "only person in the region" who grows those particular blooms.

"This bride apparently passed my house and saw my bloomed up garden and went out in the cover of darkness a couple of days before the wedding and cut all of my roses and took pots to use for her wedding," the woman wrote.

To her horror the bride was only fined $50 for trespassing into the garden and nothing for stealing the blooms, one of which was worth $300.

Allegedly the bride even told her: "They're just flowers. I needed flowers for my wedding and you have a whole yard full."

Safe to say the woman wasn’t impressed, and neither were the people in the Facebook comments, many of whom branded the bride "vile" for her actions.
