When body positive instagrammer Lexie Mannion received a barrage of abusing messages after posting a photo recently, she didn’t react with anger - as would be understandable - but instead, came up with a genius coping strategy.
Writing for Cosmopolitan.com, the blogger revealed that she received shocking messages such as “You are so fat, WTF. How disgusting.” “Shouldn’t be confident with being that unhealthy.” “You fat ass!! Don’t show your fatness!!!”
She has inspired plenty of followers with her strategy, and regularly gets comments from girls who feel uplifted because of her words.
“Changing the conversation on my own terms helped me regain the pride I felt when posting the photos in the first place," she explained. "Now, when haters attack me in the future —which I know I can't control — I might not have the time to respond with a compliment. However, I now know I'm prepared to protect myself from hurting if I ever feel this way again.”
