Best Selfie: Yvie Jones reveals the childhood photo she hated for years and a disaster makeover with Angie Kent

In 9Honey's weekly series Best Selfie, we present stars with old images from their Instagram feed to see how they react. Expect memories of joy, heartbreak, and insecurities, all retold through the lens of time.

Exuberant Yvie Jones started her television career on Gogglebox Australia in 2015 with her friend and then-roommate, Angie Kent. The loveable duo were fan favourites for their hilarious take on TV shows and their mutual love of dogs.

Since then she has hosted on radio, appeared on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and presented on television as the role of Factory Inspector for the second season of Snackmasters.

So when we sat down with her to chat about her old photos, she took us through all the moments – from some of her favourites, to others she would rather forget about.

Jones' friendship with Kent was solid long before they broke out in the industry. Jones reflects on a wild Australia Day celebration when (after a few too many wines), she decided to cut Kent's hair.

"That didn't go down well the next day. Or the next week when she had to go get it fixed up," Jones laughs.

"She ended up with very short hair. I regret nothing."

"Those were my two late boys, Oscar and Leo, who are no longer around," she says of this Christmas snap.

"Oscar was my very first dog that I had as an adult. Leo was the next one and he was crazy.

"I adored them both. It's nice to see again."

While most Aussies know Jones and Kent as Gogglebox housemates, few know that they actually had a third housemate named Tom living with them at the time.

When living together, Jones and Kent were also full-time carers for Tom, who has Down Syndrome and diabetes. According to Jones, he's also one of her best friends.

"I think this was one of those pets in the park or pets in a bar, which was raising money for rescue dogs," she recalls.

"It was just such a wonderful day".

A self-confessed sweet tooth and avid snacker, Jones' bright and infectious character is a perfect pairing to unlock the secrets of great Aussie snack production in Nine's latest cooking series.

Snackmasters is a cooking contest hosted by Scott Pickett and MasterChef Australia's Poh Ling Yeow, which pits highly awarded chefs against each other to perfectly replicate famous Aussie snacks.

As part her role on Snackmasters, Jones journeys deep into food factories to find the secrets that go into the creation of Australia's favorite snacks and see where the chefs are getting it wrong and right.

"Infiltrating one factory at a time, I was on a mission to find out exactly how our beloved snacks are made. Tasting was mandatory, well in my rule book!" she declares.

But upon reflecting on one of her flashback photos, the Snackmasters star was taken aback.

The picture is of a much younger Jones having lunch with her family.

"That is such a funny photo because I hated it for so long," she admits.

"At the time, I was so proud to have such short hair cut, with these surfy kind of wave fringe. And then for years I really didn't like me in that photo".

However, these days Jones has come full circle.

"A message to [my] former self, who didn't like that photo: You have no time to waste. You are wasting your life by disliking yourself in any ways. Embrace it," she says.
