'How our baby saved our marriage'
Tyler and I had been married for five years when I found out that he'd been planning on leaving me. One of my friends, who is married to Tyler's cousin told me that he had confided in him, that he was unhappy in our relationship and wanted to get out soon but didn't know how to tell me.
I was absolutely devastated.
He said his reason for leaving me wasn't that he didn't love me but that he felt like we were drifting apart because I spend so much time devoted to my work.
It's true, I do work long hours and then even after work I spend a lot of time socialising and networking; sometimes I invite Tyler and other times I don't. In retrospect, I made a huge mistake. I should have done the opposite – spend more time with Tyler and less time socialising and networking.

I flew into this crazy panic, terrified I was going to lose the only man I've ever loved.
I then had a dilemma, whether to confront him about what I'd heard or just to use the information I had already and to tell him that I was making changes in my life. So I decided to do the latter.

I told him that I was taking on a smaller role at work so I can devote more time to our relationship and that I wanted us to start a family soon.
Tyler was very keen to start a family and it's only been me and my work holding us up. I wanted to be a mother too, I just wanted to wait a couple more years but when I decided to dedicate myself to our marriage, I went off contraception and, luckily, fell pregnant within three months.

Tyler was very happy, so excited and, even though he didn't say it, I know that this has saved our marriage. I now have a five-month-old and he is absolutely divine. And he has definitely saved our marriage in more ways than one.
I appreciate Tyler more than ever, he really is the most amazing father, and so loving and kind towards me. He is a huge help to me as well – when I go to mother's group and listen to the other women saying that their husbands don't do enough to help them, I tell them that my husband helps me so much and lets me sleep as much as I need to.

We're also very lucky that my parents live nearby and they've been looking after our son every now and then so that Tyler and I can have some date nights which I know are so important.
So things are fantastic and I'm on maternity leave but when I do go back, I will just be part time.
There's no way I'm going back to my old ways again because I don't ever want to risk losing my husband and I can't believe I came so close.
