Baby dies day after being sent home from hospital with eye drops

A baby has died the day after doctors allegedly sent him home from hospital with only eye drops.
The four-month-old boy, from Florida, was reportedly taken to hospital on August 10 after he began coughing and having trouble breathing, New York Post reports.
But after he was released with only eye drops, his parents took him home, fed him a bottle and put him to bed.
According to a Florida Department of Children and Families report, the infant’s parents found him lying in his bassinet unconscious the next morning on his back with his arms above his head and pale.
The baby was rushed to hospital by emergency services but was pronounced dead on arrival.
An investigation has been opened into the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
The cause of death has yet to be determined.
