Aussie influencer shares ‘raw and emotional’ eight-minute video of labour and birth of child

Aussie influencer Hannah Polites made sure to keep her followers updated throughout every stage of her pregnancy.

Having recently given birth to her son, Arlo, and in-keeping with the theme of updating her followers on everything, the new mum recently shared an eight-minute long video of her entire labour and delivery.

Sharing a snippet of the footage to her 1.3 million Instagram followers, Polites admitted she gets “emotional watching” the birth of the son adding, she wants to “experience it all over again”.

The mum-of-two revealed the birth of her son was much different to the birth of her daughter, Evaliah, with partner Garth Small.

Polites, 28, admitted on her YouTube channel she “desired a healing birth” after a “traumatic” experience with her daughter. For her second birth, she began to do some research and came across hypnobirthing. This helped her to feel “safe, empowered, strong and in control” during her labour and delivery.

The video on the influencer’s Instagram has received nearly 350,000 views in less than 24 hours, and Polites has been met with overwhelming support and praise from her followers.

“Oh my gosh I got teary watching this,” one person wrote. “You are so strong!”

“You are amazing,” another said.

“Thought this was beautiful,” one other follower wrote.

However, others weren’t so positive with some claiming the moment should have been left private.

“I think it should be private… people show too much on the internet,” one follower said.

“Of course it’s a beautiful moment in your life but you should experience this with your husband and family, not with millions of random followers online…”

But Polites responded, saying birth was a “normal life event that we don’t talk about enough”.

“I think it’s important to start conversations,” she continued.

“The media causes fear and negativity around birthing so I chose to show a different side that’s empowering and positive.”
