Police arrested the woman and charged her with attempted abduction.
The mother took to her Facebook page to share a warning to other parents.
In the now deleted post, obtained by Metro.uk, she wrote, "4am this morning I woke up to a woman on my stairs with my 2-year-old son trying to kidnap him while me and [partner] slept in the next room."

The mother continued to share her location and encouraged her followers to spread the word. "I’m lucky I woke up or I wouldn’t have my little love. Please everyone be careful Christmas night, make sure all doors and windows are locked," she added.
Manchester police are yet to reveal a motive behind the act.
