Teenage boy looks like a toddler due to 'one-of a-kind condition'

Angus Palmes is 13 years old.

But, he looks like a toddler and weighs just 14kg.

Doctors say the teen, from Cheshire near Manchester, is the only person in the world to suffer from an unnamed condition causing him to stop growing at the age of three.

While experts struggled to diagnose his condition at birth, they now identify it as a ‘personal syndrome’.

But his mum, Tandy, has her own name for it. She calls it his ‘happy syndrome’.

“There’s a million children in the UK who have all disabilities and Angus is actually one of a kind, he’s completely unique in every single way,” she told This Morning.

“There are actually a lot of children with what they call 'personal syndromes',” she explained, adding it was difficult for sufferers when people didn’t recognise their condition.

“I just call it a personal syndrome — a happy syndrome — because he laughs so much.”

Tandy, 48, said she knew during her pregnancy something wasn’t quite right, when he wasn't kicking like his older brother had.

But it was not until three weeks after Angus was born doctors realised something wasn’t right, she said.

She added Angus, who takes 250 doses of medicine each week, is able to walk while holding her hand, something which doctors originally thought would not be possible.

He also communicates by sticking out his thumb and index finger and wiggling them simultaneously to show he is happy.

Tandy said while she knew her son would never be able to live fully independently, she was determined he would live a full life.

"We just sort of work it out and get it along."
