Amanda Knox talks love: ‘I had to let go of it in prison’

This November marks 10 years since Amanda Knox was accused of killing her British roommate Meredith Kercher. 

When the British student was murdered in the Italian town of Perugia, Knox and her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were convicted of the crime. The couple were acquitted of the murder in 2011, before being retried and found guilty in 2014. In 2015, they were definitively acquitted of the crime.

The story fascinated the world, and a documentary which aired on Netflix last year - Amanda Knox - only increased the interest around Knox, who had been nicknamed “Foxy Knoxy” during her trial. 

Now, thanks to all the “apologies” she recieved from members of the public who told her they had “used her for entertainment”, Knox is feeling more confident than ever about telling her story. In an interview with People, the 30-year-old said:

“I’m not disappearing into oblivion. I have something to say.”

Knox, who now works as a writer, has revealed more than ever about her private life, speaking openly with People about her boyfriend, Christopher Robinson. The couple met at a book launch, and Knox interviewed Robinson for a story days later.

She recalls: “When we shook hands goodbye, he said, ‘I think you’re someone I should be friends with.’ ”

“...that hadn’t happened to me yet, where I came home and someone I didn’t know — who I admired for their accomplishments but also thought of potentially as a peer — could be my friend.”
