Alicia Vikander's Lara Croft body shamed by Twitter troll

One look at Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider movie and you can tell this is a woman at the peak of her fitness — she worked out seven days a week for three months to pack on 5.5kg of muscle through a mix of insanely heavy weight training and MMA fighting with Wonderwoman Gal Gadot's trainer.

Impressive, eh? Not for one Twitter troll.

A YouTuber who goes by the name TJ Kirk and tweets as Amazing Atheist Guy (nope, we've never heard of him either) took to social media to body shame Alicia for having, wait for it, small breasts.

"Do I have to be the a--hole who says her tits are too small for me to see her as Lara Croft?" he tweeted.

"Do I have to be that guy? Do I have to be the one who f---g says it? I guess I do. Sorry."

His apology was obviously incredibly sincere because he went on to say this: "Casting a flat-chested b--- as Lara Croft is life casting me as Ron Jeremy.

"It doesn’t work for obvious reasons. The onlyTomb Raider game I’ve ever played was one of the new ones. I thought her breast reduction was noticeable and distracting there, and done for dishonest reasons. But this new actress is even flatter. It’s very disheartening. Or at least distitening."

But one thing's for sure: you can count on Twitter to call keyboard warriors to account.

One person commented: "Show me where she's flat chested and not just athletic and well proportioned. You can't call this girl's chest flat and also pretend you've ever seen a woman outside of video games."

While another called out the ridiculousness of the entire topic: "Tom Cruise played a 6ft 5 Jack Reacher and this guy is giving Alicia Vikander sh--t for not having CGI cone boobs".

Alicia has previously spoken about bringing something different to the role Angelina Jolie made famous.

"[Angelina] made that an iconic role. I knew we wouldn't be able to redo that, and that's not what we're trying to do either. We go back to the beginning, and tell the origin story", she said.

Tomb Raider opens in cinemas nationwide today.
