This is what Stewie from Family Guy’s real voice sounds like

Even if you’re not a Family Guy fan, chances are you’re probably aware of who Stewie Griffin is.

He’s the cartoon baby with a weird-shaped head and the red overalls.

He’s known for his evil plots, cutting insults and his creepy British accent.

But in a recent episode of Family Guy, it was revealed that his voice was all an act.

In the 300^th episode Send in Stewie, Please, Stewie speaks to therapist Dr. Pritchfield, who is voiced by Sir Ian McKellen.

“Everything about me is this carefully constructed persona designed to keep people at arm’s length,” he tells the psychologist.

“This isn’t even how I really talk.”

And it aaaaall comes out.

Stewie switches to his “real” voice, which is wholly unremarkable and somewhat jarring compared to the smooth British façade.

“The accent is nothing more than an affection, an armour to get me through the day; an image I cultivated so I could feel special,” Stewie says.

People obviously thought he was right to do so.

When the show aired in the US on Sunday night, people were, as the kids say, shooketh.

Of course, the voice belongs to one Seth MacFarlane, who created the show and voices characters like Peter and Quagmire, as well as Roger from American Dad.

As we learned from a yarn from Entertainment Weekly by US writer Dan Snierson, it was MacFarlane’s standard American child voice.

Family Guy writer Gary Janetti said he didn’t know if MacFarlane would go for the storyline.

“[But] when he read it, it was hilarious,” Janetti said.

“He instantly read that voice that he does in the episode, which is this normal kid voice, and it’s very disarming.”

But it seemed damned weird when aligned with our favourite diabolical infant.

It was so jarring that some people are dealing with it in a very adult way: irrational denial.

No word yet on whether that whole Cool Whip thing was part of Stewie's construct, thought.
