Annalise Dalins and Josh Daicos spill on unspoken relationship agreement weeks before their wedding

Exclusive: Annalise Dalins and Josh Daicos are counting down the weeks until the their wedding, but don’t expect them to spill any details on the Brownlow Medal red carpet tonight.

The model, 25, and AFL star, 27, are playing it close to the chest in the leadup to their November nuptials and their excitement for the big day is utterly infectious.

“You have moments where you really pinch yourself,” Dalins told nine.com.au of finding the love of her life in Daicos.

“To now get married is really meaningful.”

Daicos added that the two years since he popped the question have flown by so fast it feels like he was snatched up by a whirlwind.

“I just keep thinking about what it means for us. It’s the start of a new chapter for us, and hopefully we’ll have our own family in the near future,” he said.

They just have to make it through the Brownlow, Melbourne Cup, and a string of other high-profile engagements before they finally exchange vows.

Dalins has spent the last few weeks in and out of dress fittings to make sure every outfit is perfect, though she won’t divulge what she’s wearing tonight.

“I always like to keep it a surprise,” she teased.

“I love to have the opportunity to dress up and express myself. Fashion is an extension of myself and my personality, so hopefully everyone’s really receptive.”

Daicos is happy to follow her lead in the fashion department, and not just on the Brownlow red carpet.

He recently joined Dalins on the set of the 150 Years of Jockey photoshoot, where they stripped down to their undies for their first-ever campaign together.

It’s not what most Australians would choose for their first job with their partner, but this isn’t just any couple.

“What we loved about Jockey was that it was really centred around support, which is a value that’s super important in our relationship,” Dalins said.

“We’ve always been each other’s biggest supporters behind the scenes [...] as different as our careers have looked.”

How did Daicos feel stripping down to his jocks with the whole crew watching?

“It was out of my comfort zone, but so much fun,” he laughed.

Until now, the couple had kept their careers mostly separate, though it wasn’t something they formally discussed.

The unspoken agreement to support each other’s ambitions just emerged organically early in the relationship and has been a constant ever since, from red carpets to media events.

“It was never a conscious decision to keep things separate, it just kind of naturally happened that way,” Dalins said.

She and Daicos decided to keep parts of their romance private in the same unspoken way.

Privacy is a rare commodity for public figures these days, especially those like Dalins whose work largely revolves around social media.

While she and Daicos are happy to share loved-up snaps on their socials, they have clear boundaries when it comes to what they keep for themselves.

“You want an element of privacy in your life. I’ve been playing football now for close to 10 years, so you are in the public spotlight,” Daicos said.

Dalins called their relationship her “safe space” and would never want it to feel too curated or performative – much like their upcoming wedding.

Planning the wedding has brought them closer together than ever before, partly because they’ve taken such a relaxed approach.

A two-year engagement allowed them to take everything at their own pace and plan the kind of ceremony they actually want, rather than what’s expected.

“It’s just about getting everyone that we love together for the day and celebrating with them. We’re treating it as a big party,” Daicos said.

Dalins added, “We’ve just tried to keep the day super focused on what we love, our interests, and what reflects us.”

As for the wedding dress, all she would reveal is that it’s “super sentimental” and something she’ll be happy to look back on for the rest of her life.
