Nicolas Cage's son arrested for DUI after wild car chase

Weston Cage has admitted past struggle with substance abuse.

Weston Cage, the son of actor Nicolas Cage, was arrested for DUI on February 4 after taking police on a wild chase through a Los Angeles neighborhood.

TMZ reports that the 26-year-old actor had been in a minor accident with another vehicle. He exchanged information with the driver, but then fled the scene when he believed police were on the way.

According to authorities, he drove about a mile before losing control of his car. He veered off into a lawn, mowing down a row of mailboxes and ramming through a street sign.

Weston hit a tree, losing a tire, which finally brought the vehicle to a hault. caused him to lose a tire and finally brought the vehicle to a stop. Police booked him for DUI and he was taken to the hospital to be examined. 

Sadly, substance abuse has long plagued the Lord of War star.

In a 2015 interview, he told People that, at his worse, he consumed as many as "30 beers a day" on top of wine and hard alcohol. He credited his then three-year sobriety to son Lucian.

"He saved my life, he is my angel," he said.
