Logies 2016: Waleed Aly on his 'ridiculous' Gold Logie nomination: 'I was not in a million years expecting this'

He may be the bookies' favourite to take home this year's Gold Logie, but The Project's Waleed Aly doesn't sound too confident to be scoring the coveted gong.

Speaking to Nine News from the 2016 TV Week Logies red carpet, Waleed said he's surprised to be nominated, let alone to be attending TV's night of nights at all.

"I was not in a million years expecting that I'd be walking in tonight up for a couple of awards" he says in the clip above. "But I'm pretty happy it's ridiculous, I'm having a great time."

Waleed, 37, is up against his co-host Carrie Bickmore, actor Essie Davis, Family Feud host Grant Denyer, SBS host Lee Lin Chin and The Block's Scott Cam for the Gold Logie award for Best Personality on Australian TV.

The Logies airs tonight at 7pm on 9.
