Two and a Half Men gets shock gay twist

The final season of Two and a Half Men will see Ashton Kutcher's Walden and Jon Cryer's Alan come out as a gay couple!

Umm… what?

It's a bit out of left field, we know, but let us explain…

According to CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler, the season 12 storyline begins with Walden experiencing an "existential crisis" due to a health scare.

"He wants to find a way to add more meaning to his life, so he decides he wants to adopt a child and in doing so, he starts the process and realizes that it's very difficult to adopt a child as a single, straight man," Tassler said during a press tour.

"So once and for all he decides, 'I'm going to propose to Alan and we're going to get married and adopt a child as a gay couple," she explained.

The show has recently explored gay storylines, adding Amber Tamblyn to the cast as Charlie's long-lost lesbian daughter, but we didn't see this new twist coming.

So, what will lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community think of this fauxmance?

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation are totally behind it.

"We hope the show will acknowledge not only the progress made in acceptance of gay and lesbian couples, but also the fact that -- in many areas of the country -- same-sex couples are often under greater scrutiny or still barred from adoption options that straight couples have," a GLAAD rep told the Television Critics Association.

During the conference, it was confirmed that Charlie Sheen will definitely not be making a return to the show.

Phew.

Luckily for Ashton Kutcher, lying in order to adopt is not a real life issue. He and partner Mila Kunis are expecting their first child later this year.
