Tom Cruise is reportedly at loggerheads with Paramount over the upcoming release of Mission: Impossible 7 later this year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is "infuriated" with the studio over its proposed release schedule for the highly-anticipated film in September and is now seeking the services of a lawyer.

Tom Cruise is reportedly unhappy with the release schedule for Mission: Impossible 7. Paramount Pictures

The publication reports the 59-year-old was not impressed when he discovered Paramount was giving Mission: Impossible 7 a 45-day theatrical window before the movie will be available to stream on Paramount+.

Typically, films are given a three-month run in cinemas before it is released on a streaming platform.

"For [Cruise], 45 days is like going day-and-date," a Paramount source told THR. "He also felt that setting a date when the movie could be seen on the service would discourage people from going to the theatre."

There are now whispers former Paramount CEO Jim Gianopulos is no longer with the studio because of this drama with the actor.

According to THR, Paramount executive Shari Redstone and president and CEO Bob Bakish were banking on Gianopulos to convince Cruise to agree to the 45-day schedule.

"Jim was bridging between what Shari and Bob Bakish wanted and what Jim felt was the right thing to do," a source said, adding that "part of the reason [Jim] is gone is that Shari and Bob thought they could wave a magic wand" and get him to persuade Cruise but "Tom is so committed to theatrical".
