Teddy Geiger makes red carpet debut after announcing her transition
US pop singer-songwriter Teddy Geiger has made her public debut after confirming that she had transitioned from male to female.
Geiger, 29, stepped out Tuesday night in Beverly Hills, California, for the 2018 BMI Pop Awards, where she was honoured for co-writing Shawn Mendes' hits 'Mercy' and 'There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back.'

For the event, Geiger wore a sleeveless patterned dress and patent leather Mary Janes. She styled her chin-grazing bob in soft waves, showing off a new set of bangs.

Last October, the 'For You I Will (Confidence)' singer revealed she was transitioning after a fan asked why she looked "different lately."
"Okay… because u asked nicely… I am transitioning," Geiger wrote. "I started talking about it with a couple of my close friends and family about a month ago and it’s given me the courage to start the process. I feel like the next step is to tell all y’all. So here goes. Love it or hate this is who I have been for a looooong time."

In November, the singer shared that she had begun hormone replacement therapy. She also said she preferred to be referred to with female pronouns and will keep her first name Teddy.
Since confirming her transition, Geiger has been sharing updates throughout her journey on social media, from having her ears pierced to experimenting with new beauty looks.
On the career front, Geiger has kept plenty busy since her 2006 hit 'For You I Will (Confidence)'. Aside from writing for Mendes, Geiger has penned songs for Maroon 5, Icona Pop, and James Blunt.
