Shane Warne freaks out during nightmare snake, cockroach and maggot shower on I'm A Celebrity

Shane Warne's first day in the South African jungle was quite literally the pits.

Well, just one big pit packed with five kilos of maggots, 5000 mealworms, 25000 Madagascan cockroaches, 1000 earthworms, 10 frogs and five snakes, to be precise.

For his first challenge on I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, the 46-year-old former cricketer screamed and squirmed his way through 12 minutes in a 50-degree-plus-heat Perspex chamber of creepy crawlies mixed with corn.

He chose his long-time friend, ex-footballer Brendan Fevola, to join him…and both almost cried when the snakes arrived. ARGH! Watch above.

The torture was worth it, though, with the pair earning their campmates a maximum of 12 meals in the tucker trial. #HEROWARNIE.

Afterwards, Shane shared this choice anecdote with his co-stars: "I had a cockroach in my butt!"

Surely an image most of us would never have ever contemplated up until now.
