Samuel L. Jackson slammed for homophobic tweet against Donald Trump

Samuel L. Jackson has come under fire after his birthday tweet for Donald Trump was perceived as homophobic by the Twitterverse.

The outspoken 69-year-old actor took a dig at the US President in a recent tweet to mark his 72nd birthday -- and it was littered with gay connotations.

"Must have been a party at The White House, Mitch, Paul, Rudy & others were spotted wearing knee pads & carrying these lined up outside. Happy Birthday," Jackson tweeted, referring to Trump and his henchmen.

Alongside the tweet was a picture of a product called "After Dick Mints," which had the slogan "Going down?"

Although Trump has many haters on Twitter, some thought Jackson's tweet overstepped the line.

Firefly actor Adam Baldwin wrote in a since-deleted tweet, "Gay shaming?" While another user asked Jackson, "Did you and Joy Reid get hacked by the same person?" in reference to MSNBC host who made homophobic comments on her blog only to claim she was hacked.

Jackson soon hit back at his critics, telling them that their attempts to have his Twitter account suspended failed.

"We have investigated the reported content and could not identify any violations of the Twitter Rules or applicable law," Jackson posted a screenshot from Twitter. "Accordingly, we have not taken any action at this time."

"Hahahahahahahahahawhooooooo.... they just keep tryin'," a smug Jackson then said on Instagram.
