Robbie Williams discusses his struggle with a sleep-eating disorder: 'It's been super weird'

Robbie Williams' daytime meals are bit leaner lately.

The 43-year-old singer has revealed that because he suffers from nocturnal sleep-related eating disorder [NS-RED], he now has to monitor his food intake during his waking hours.

"I'm doing this very weird thing, and it’s been for over a year now, where I night-eat," he said in a new 'Vloggie Williams' video blog on his website.

"I am absolutely asleep and I get up, and I go and eat. I don’t do it on purpose – I'm not aware I'm doing it - but it happens.

"And apparently in my sleep I don’t want kale; I want sugar and loads of it."

Robbie proceeded to show off his "sad" lunch of chicken and hummus over lettuce.

"It’s been super weird, as you can imagine and leaves me not a lot of room for [eating] bad stuff during the day because bad stuff happens at night, when I am asleep," he continued. "It’s just weird, but it’s what’s happening.

"So there’s zero sad, shameful secret treats because I have my treat in the middle of the night when I don’t even know about it."

The British star first admitted he suffered from the condition last year. When a fan questioned what he ate while he slumbered, he admitted, "Macaroni and cheese (cold) and cookies dipped in peanut butter ..Lots of…."

According to Web-MD, NS-RED affects about 5 percent of the population. While it may seem like a non-serious condition, it can result in significant weight gain and even the development of Type-2 diabetes.

Robbie has openly discussed his lifelong struggles with his weight.

When asked his greatest fear in a Guardian Q&A earlier this year, he responded, "Obesity and the shame that comes with it."
