Thomas Fire: Rob Lowe invites California firefighters to his Montecito home for dinner
Rob Lowe is doing his part to help fight California's Thomas Fire.
The actor lent a hand and showed his appreciation for the firefighters battling the massive blaze by inviting them into his Montecito home for a meal.
"Dinner for new friends at our house," Lowe, 53, captioned a photo of the men feasting in his and wife Sheryl Berkoff's kitchen.
Thomas, now the third worst fire in the state's history, has swept through Southern California over the past 15 days, destroying 105,000 hectares and forcing thousands to be evacuated. Efforts are currently concentrated around Santa Barbara and posh Montecito, where Lowe is based.
After sharing a photo of his home with the fire raging in the hills behind it, Lowe uploaded a shot of him grabbing a fire hose to help the firefighters conquer the flames.
"Helping earlier today," The West Wing and Parks and Recreation star posted. "You do what you can, but when it's time.. you GO."

He also shared a photo posing with the entire team in front of their truck.
"Thank you to all the crews from all over the country who stood tall and saved my town. #respect #gratitude," he wrote.
Lowe isn't the only Hollywood star affected by the devastation of Thomas.
"Still praying for our little town," tweeted 63-year-old Oprah, who also has a home in Montecito, on Saturday. "Winds picked up this morning creating a perfect storm of bad for firefighters."
Katy Perry posted that her parents were forced to evacuate their home in Santa Barbara County on her mum's birthday.
"Woke up to wish my mom a happy 70th birthday today to find my brother evacuating them from the insane #ThomasFire in Santa Barbara County that has kicked up once again," the 33-year-old singer tweeted.
"Praying for the firefighters & first responders that are fighting it back as best they can. Love you SB."
Ellen DeGeneres, 59, also thanked the Ventura County firefighters looking after her and wife Portia Di Rossi's neighbourhood
"Portia and I are watching http://KEYT.com and seeing all the devastation from the #ThomasFire," the talk show host tweeted. "Our home is still standing, but so many homes have been lost. Firefighters continue to be my heroes."
She also paid special tribute to firefighter Cory Iverson who tragically died in action.
"Firefighter Cory Iverson lost his life in this disaster, leaving behind his pregnant wife, Ashley, and their two year old daughter," she wrote. "I can't imagine your loss. I'm sending you all so much love."
