Richard Wilkins has shared an update five days since he found out he had tested positive for coronavirus.

Taking to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Nine's veteran entertainment editor and Weekend Today co-host appeared in good spirits while in self-isolation.

"Hi, one and all. Day five since I got tested and 36 hours since the bad phone call," he began. "I'm getting sick of my own cooking here but, look, things are pretty good."

Wilkins said that he was hearing good news from people he had met with after potentially, and unknowingly, contracting the virus, including staff at Nova, Smooth FM and his colleagues at Nine.

"A lot of the kids at Nova and Smooth and Today Show have got negative results," Wilkins shared. "Hopefully that will continue. [I'm] running low on the gin stocks so I'm not sure what we're quite gonna do there but life goes on. It's all good. Will see you tomorrow."

Wilkins briefly met singer and actress Rita Wilson — who later tested positive for coronavirus — when she made a guest appearance on Today Extra last week and at the Sydney Opera House when she performed on March 7, but at this stage it is unclear where he contracted the virus.

"Richard Wilkins has tested positive to COVID-19. Richard is not showing any symptoms of the virus and has been self-isolating, on his own at home, since Thursday last week," a Nine spokesperson said on March 15.

Other notable celebs who have contracted the virus include Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Idris Elba and Game of Thrones star Kristofer Hivju.

Meanwhile, Today Extra hosts David Campbell and Belinda Russell — who interviewed Rita Wilson last week — have tested negative.
