Paris Jackson calls Michael Jackson 'the love of my life' in touching birthday tribute

Paris Jackson made a moving tribute to her father, pop icon Michael Jackson, on what would have been his 59th birthday.

On August 29, Paris took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of herself kissing her late father as a child.

"Birthday wishes to the love of my life, the one person who showed me what passion truly was, the one that gave me solid morals to live by and how to dream," the 19-year-old model and actress began. I will never feel love again the way I did with you. You are always with me, and I am always with you.

Though I am not you, and you are not me, I know with all of my being that we are one. And our souls will never change in that way. Thank you for the magic, forever and always."


On June 25, 2009, Michael passed away from an overdose of the drugs propofol and benzodiazepine at his home in Holmby Hills, California. Along with Paris, he left behind sons Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., 20, and Prince Michael Jackson II, 15.

Paris's Instagram post garnered more than 200,000 likes and came two days after she gave an empowering speech disavowing white supremacy at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

On the same day as her birthday tribute to Michael, she was forced to defend herself against critics, who have consistently accused her of tarnishing her father's legacy.

"You keep regurgitating the same liberal narrative that every other celebrity does. Hollywood is dying cuz of people like you," wrote one commenter on August 29.

Added another: "Get a job and stop living off the fruits of your father."

To which, Paris shot back: "If you constantly talking bout how much ya love an artist who made his whole message "peace n love," maybe don't obsessively spread hate…?"

She replied in a second post: "Oh he'd be disappointed in me? For my activism n positive messages? Hunty you da one nonstop saying the most vile, hateful, f--ked up things."

And in a final message: "It's not even being fake at this point anymore. It's straight up delusional."
