Neighbours actress Nicky Whelan marries NFL star Kerry Rhodes in Los Angeles

Neighbours' alum Nicky Whelan married her NFL love Kerry Rhodes in Los Angeles this weekend.

The former Arizona Cardinals player, 34, proposed to the Australian actress in February 2016, and they wed in a private April 15 ceremony in front of guests including Shane Warne, designer Katie Brannaghan, and photographer Rosanna Faraci.

In the days leading up to their nuptials, 35-year-old Nicky shared a slew of sweet Instagrams of her friends and family enjoying their time in Southern California.

"We just had THE BEST DAY @disneyland," Nicky captioned a carousel of images at the theme park on April 13. "Wedding week with the crew."

She also shared a precious snap with her parents and Kerry's mum bonding on one of LA's most famous shopping strips.

"My dad on #rodeodrive today lol !!!!!" wrote Nicky. "Family are slowly arriving from around the world !!! Here with my mom dad @kerryrhodes and his mum @kokeju...it's a full house."

Kerry, meanwhile, shared a series of pre-wedding workout shots and videos as he toned up ahead of his vows.

"530 am workout to get the day going," he posted April 13.

And instead of jetting off on a luxurious honeymoon immediately after the reception, the pair spent Sunday hunting Easter eggs at home with their family, per their Instagram stories.

Victorian-born Nicky rose to fame as Peggy Steiger on Neighbours from 2006 to 2007. She went on to have a recurring role on Scrubs and House of Lies. She also appeared in the films Hall Pass, The Wedding Ringer, and Left Behind – where she met her ex Chad Michael Murray.

She and Kerry met on the set of a comedy sketch and began dating in 2015.

"I thought he was an actor," she said of their first encounter. "So to be introduced to this whole NFL life he had before me is awesome."
