Those awkward teenage years can be hard on anyone. But for rapper Nicki Minaj, an unplanned pregnancy made them go from tough to unbearable.

In the new issue of Rolling Stone, Nicki, 32, talks about how the abortion she had as a teenager nearly crushed her.

"I thought I was going to die," she says. "It was the hardest thing I’d ever gone through. [It] haunted me all my life."

Nicki has already alluded to the painful episode in 'All Things Go', a track on her new The Pinkprint album that debuted in early December, but this is the first time she's talked about it in an interview.

"My child with Aaron, would've have been sixteen, any minute," she rapped on the song.

For those not doing the math, that would have made Nicki 15 or 16 at the time of the abortion. She doesn't mention Aaron in the Rolling Stone cover story, but presumably he was no more daddy material at the time than she was prepared to be a mum.

"It'd be contradictory if I said I wasn't pro-choice," Nicki added. "I wasn't ready. I didn't have anything to offer a child."
