'Hand on heart': Bizarre denial Art Attack host Neil Buchanan was forced to issue years after TV fame
"This is an art attack. This is an art attack. This. Is. Art Attack!"
If you were a kid who watched a lot of TV in the '90s and '00s, chances are you're all too familiar with those words.
It was the introduction to each episode of the iconic kids' show Art Attack, spoken by equally iconic host Neil Buchanan.
The artist, photographer and musician created and helmed the show from 1990 to 2007, unmissable in his trademark red jumper, blue jeans and white sneakers.

The award-winning show, aired by Britain's ITV network, was a hit among Aussie and British kids alike.
It saw Buchanan teach his young audience how to make all kinds of artsy projects from the comfort of their living rooms, often using household items like "kindergarten paste" and "loo roll".
Who could forget some of those large-scale artworks?
Art Attack wasn't his first TV hosting gig; Buchanan previously appeared in two other children's shows.

Few may know that prior to his TV career, Buchanan was the lead guitarist for heavy metal band Marseille.
The group, formed in 1976, released four albums and toured the US.
Buchanan stepped away from the band in 2017.

More recently, Buchanan bizarrely found himself a target for Banksy artist skeptics, who suspected he was the identity behind the mysterious England-based street artist.
The speculation became so widespread, Buchanan took the step of hosing it down.
"Hi folks. You won't be surprised when I tell you – contrary to the recent media frenzy – I am honestly, hand on heart, not Banksy," he wrote on Twitter in 2020.
"Trust me, if I had created some of those amazing images he has made, I would be the first to stand up and take a bow.
"Sadly I didn't create them – so I can't!"
