Miley Cyrus scores points with her new beau’s mum

Here’s one way to start winning over your new boyfriend’s disapproving mum: tag along on family movie night…and don’t twerk!

Patrick Schwarzenegger’s folks have reportedly been less than impressed about Miley Cyrus since he started dating her. But could his mum Maria Shriver be starting to come around?

A source tells HollywoodLife that Miley, 21, earned a possible second opinion after joining the family for a screening of Still Alice in L.A. She kept her body parts covered and presumably her tongue in her mouth during the outing with 21-year-old Patrick, his sister Katherine and Maria, who is an executive producer of the film.

“Maria is still not convinced that Patrick should be focusing all his attention on Miley and isn’t thrilled that a romance is brewing,” the source said. “But she is warming up to the idea that her feelings may change because she was impressed with the way Miley handled herself. There is still a lot more convincing to be done but cracks in the armour have begun.”

Just don’t expect Miley and Maria to start bonding during hair-braiding sessions. Maria appears to still have plenty of reservations to go around.

“Maria’s never going to come out and say something negative about Miley — that’s not her style — but she is pressuring Patrick to drop her,” the source added. “It’s a big concern because she sees what Miley stands for: the drugs, the promiscuity. She thinks Miley is bad news. She is very concerned about the influence this could have on Patrick.”

That’s what you call a tough critic. Miley, your uphill climb has just begun.
