Mel B shares photo after being hospitalised for broken ribs and 'severed' hand

Melanie Brown is on the mend after undergoing emergency surgery in London.

The pop star known as Mel B and Scary Spice revealed she had been hospitalised in an early Instagram post on Monday (Tuesday AEST).

"Thank you to all the wonderful nurses dr's and my amazing surgeon for the care and expertise given to me here at the hospital I've been staying at, suffering 2 broken ribs a severed right hand needing emergancy [sic] care," the 43-year-old Spice Girl wrote. In the pic, she wore navy hoodie and lifted her hand, which was protected in a purple sling.

The Brutally Honest author did not reveal the cause of her injury. However, she did confirm she would be taking time off from her book tour so she can heal.

"I've had to unfortunately cancel my book signing today in NY, I [apologise] to each and every one of you who bought there [sic] tickets to meet me today. I'm absolutely gutted but I can assure you it WILL happen at a later date, I promise, but for now my right arm/hand is all stitched up and I'm trying to keep still to heal my broken ribs, ohhh the pain, but I'm in super safe hands with the care of everyone here at the hospital!!!!!" she added.

Mel B also shared a Boomerang video revealing her BFFs and fellow Spice Girls Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, and Melanie C had visited her in hospital. The group announced in November their plans for a UK reunion tour, although Victoria Beckham won't be taking part this time around.
