Married at First Sight's Erin Bateman shares 'awkward AF' audition tape…'crazy eyes' and all

Erin Bateman got hitched, then found love (maybe) last year during the second season of Married at First Sight. Now she's shared how it all began.

The 26-year-old from Melbourne posted her audition tape to her YouTube page, and she also revealed her reason for springing those 80 'awkward AF' seconds on the world on her personal blog.

"Ahh I've wanted to upload my Married At First Sight audition video for so long!," she wrote. "I get a lot of PM's, emails, comments etc from gals my age or younger saying things like 'I wish I could do ___ but I'm too scared/nervous'.

"Or even young girls asking for advice on being more confident or less anxious or whatever it may be – this breaks my damn heart.

"MY Married At First Sight Audition Video.. IS awkward AF and thats okay!," she added in big bold print.

And that, folks, is what led her to upload it for all 36 of her subscribers to see.

"Even though its really awkward and I seem to have a serious case of crazy eyes and at times even an American accent..," she continued, "I still wanted people to see that all you need to be is you (doesn't matter how awkward and weird) and good things will come."

She goes on to talk about Instagram, which she describes as "that haunted animal we call 'real life'".

"We scroll through images upon images of girls that look quite literally exactlyyy the same," she wrote. "I see nothing but perfect bodies, perfect faces, perfect lives.

"No wonder at times I've felt brainwashed into feeling I'm not enough – just like many other people are it seems."

Despite her misgivings, she does express her appreciation of social media as a way of reaching out to people with a positive message.

"I'm a bit of a technology buff and I love all the new ways we can use the internet to be social!" she admitted. "The amount of people watching, I couldn’t believe it!

"Here I am, a girl watching tv in her bedroom just giving my two cents worth. To my surprise, people want to watch me and even TALK TO ME?!"

Forthcoming as she is about social media and her MAFS beginnings, she's been less so about life after the reality show.

Erin was paired with Bruce Mohr, but it's unclear whether they are still married, as she has refused to comment on her current relationship status.

But keep an eye on her blog and YouTube page. Maybe the social media-savvy twentysomething will spill all the details in a forthcoming confessional.

We'll be watching.
