Married At First Sight bride 'taken aback' her groom isn't a Polynesian man
Sunday night's episode of Married At First Sight introduced us to Debbie, a 53-year-old woman with a very specific idea of how her groom should look.
"In the past, I have had one relationship with someone who was from the South Pacific islands, the Polynesian islands, and it was the happiest I've ever been," Debbie tells us at the start.
The former model continues to state her preference for Polynesian men throughout the episode, and she was none too pleased to see that she had been matched with John, a 53-year-old Caucasian Melburnian, at the altar.

"I was a bit confused," Debbie says after their Maroubra Beach ceremony. "I didn't know if he was my husband or not. I was expecting a Polynesian person from the islands, and so I was a bit taken aback that he wasn't that."
Despite John's attempts to win her over with jokes and two very accepting grown daughters, Debbie just can't shake her expectations.
"I was after someone from the Polynesian Islands," she says at the reception, which featured a traditional island dance session as the first dance. "Now I've got to overcome that."
