Cole Sprouse reveals how 'Riverdale' will handle Luke Perry's death

Just yesterday it was revealed that the upcoming Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot would find a way to honour the late Luke Perry -- and today it was Riverdale's turn.

Cole Sprouse, Perry's co-star on the teen drama, has admitted that producers have some ideas on how to explain the actor's sudden death. Perry portrayed Fred Andrews, the father of main star Archie Andrews (played by KJ Apa), so he was an integral part of the show.

"I can't go too much into the spoilers of it, but we do have something planned narratively," Sprouse, who plays Jughead Jones, revealed on The View. "We dedicated some of the episodes to him.

"He was very well loved. I mean, the whole world is mourning his passing," added the 26-year-old. "But he was one of those guys that would rather have us all laughing about his great stories than mourning for too long."

Perry died on March 4, five days after suffering a massive stroke. When news broke of his passing, production was shut down on the Riverdale set so cast members could mourn their beloved co-star.

"Rest in Love bro," his onscreen son Apa wrote on Instagram, while co-star Lili Reinhart tweeted, "I'm finding it hard to grasp that he will no longer be around to give long hugs and share his wisdom and kindness with all of us."

Two days later, when the very first episode aired since Perry's death, the show's creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also shared a touching tribute to the actor.

"So heartbroken about Luke. He was a father, brother, friend, and mentor. Each night before he had to shoot a scene, he'd call me and we'd talk about… everything. I will miss those calls. And my heart goes out to all his family and friends," he wrote.

Aguirre-Sacasa also shared a follow-up post of the cast, explaining that all episodes will be dedicated to Perry from now on.

"Going through pictures on my way to set," he said. "From the early days. With Luke in the middle. Our heart, always. Tonight's episode of #Riverdale finds Fred doing what he does best -- helping Archie. It is dedicated to Luke, as all episodes will be for the rest of our run."
