Logies 2019: Julia Morris has no regrets about her hilarious performance last year

Julia Morris says she was hoping her song and dance performance at last year's TV Week Logie Awards would cause a stir.

"I wrote it to do exactly that," she tells 9Honey Celebrity on the Logies red carpet on Sunday night. "I felt like the message was 'It doesn't matter if I'm twerking in your face, you don't touch my body.'

"I was very interested that a really small part of the community thought that I was making fun of the #MeToo movement, so I was like 'OK well you didn't get it, that's fine.'"

The TV star and comedian elaborated, explaining that prior to the ceremony last year she had been asked to speak for free at a charity function.

"Then they rang back asking if I would issue a full apology for my song," she recalls. "I said 'I don't think you guys are looking for me.'"

As for her tips to enjoy the Logies, Morris says the key is to not drink.

"It's a work night and I think lots of people forget that and I just leave them to it," she says. "It's not the night to do a nude headstand in front of the entire industry."
