Kanye West returns to the Taylor Swift VMAs incident that 'was the beginning of the end of my life'

Kanye West has spoken up – yet again – about the time he stage-crashed Taylor Swift's VMA's speech back in 2009.

During the first ever live performance of 'Famous', the 38-year-old stopped to explain his intentions behind the controversial lyrics: "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why? I made that bitch famous." 

He told the Manila, Philippines, audience that Taylor Swift was pretty much a casualty of the song's master plan: calling out the music industry – and society at large – for trying to silence his artistic truth.

Referencing "that night that I went on stage…you know what night I'm talking about," the Life Of Pablo rapper told the screaming crowd that talking about it on the Rihanna-featured track cured his writer's block , "because it's something I wanted to say so bad that they told me I couldn't say."

As for the fallout, including Lady Gaga promptly cancelling their co-headlining Fame Kills tour the day after the 2009 VMAs, he added: "That night that I went onstage was the beginning of the end of my life."

Then he went on to perform the song a second time, as Kanye does.
